Most of Brooklyn’s collected recyclable materials ends up at the SIMS municipal recycling facility. From here the majority finds a buyer and is actually recycled. In New York, however, only 18% of all recyclable materials actually get recycled, and this is a better rate than the rest of the country. The rest goes to landfills with the rest of our garbage.
