Tons of plastic ends up in the oceans and other waterways negatively affecting aquatic ecologies including fish, shellfish and birds, plants and plankton, and ultimately us as it is working its way into and up the food chain. In the marine environment, plastics not only break down into small pieces and are mistaken for food, they also act as magnets for other harmful chemical that have leached or been dumped into waterways, making them even more toxic.

It is predicted that by there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050.
